One of the four local travel values that ungird the Local Travel Movement is the importance of connecting with local people. One of the challenges of Local Travel, though, is meeting locals.

Fortunately, as I recently wrote, there are a growing number of free Web-based organizations that facilitate these connections. (A good place to start is the Local Travel Movement’s list of Local Guides & Tours.)

And now I’ve just learned about another Local Travel Movement partner’s new tool designed to help with this process. GoMio.com recently launched its new GoDashBoard, which expands the company’s social travel tools to include meeting locals in each destination through another Local Travel Movement partner, Tripping.com, and trip-planning by reading user-generated reviews of businesses through Yelp.com.

With the GoDashBoard, travelers can see who else will be staying at the same hostel before they arrive, meet locals interested in hanging out in the destination they are visiting and plan for their trip using Yelp.
